Your point is hate filled but I don’t blame you for having this view because our history has been bloody. Nevertheless I feel your argument is worth analysing.

Yes there is many on the Loyalist/Unionist side that hate
Catholics / Republicans / Nationalists and resent the St Patricks Day Parade. The “hardnd loyalist gangs, sectarian marching bands and drunken violent yobos” etc are not the Orange Order and I doubt if they will be the type of people that come to Limerick. Before you lose your rag here I know there is a lot of this element within the Orange Marches and I in no way condone them but for the main part the OO are old men.

I do not carry anger for the OO out of choice and not out of ignorance of events in the North. I am committed to a Socialist Republic not a country of devoid of diversity.

Funnily enough the commenter who referred to me as Walter Mitty had the same problem. You should look up what the term Walter Mitty actually means before you use it.

In fact Mickey’s Mikey scroll back for a few stories and see just how much of a hypocritite you are, the proof is there .
May 6th your debate with ‘Dan Sullivan’ and how much you defended Bobby Sands. Today low and behold you do a flip and are in the highest praise for the Orange Order.
Now can anyone please tell me how you can justifibly stauncly defend two complete opposites and not be a ‘Walter Mitty’ type character as I have heard 1 commentor equate you to.

Are you really on this planet Mickey’s mickey …I find what you have to say is just trying to provoke a reactionary position from commenters. Your comment is by far the most ridiculous I’ve seen in some time.
The Orange Order in your blinkered view is basically a grown up version of say the Boy Scouts for example. Have you had a mental health review recently or are you far too busy being ‘loyal to the status quo’.
They have no blood on their hands there just ‘fraternities of people for networking’ ie planning ways to kill and mutilate Catholics for centuries.
So you must be in awe of the ‘free masons’ especially the guys across from King Johns Castle. They still haven’t heard of equality in this day and age….NO WOMEN ALLOWED!!!

my point was that st pats day parades are very marginalised and theres is no ‘national’ or state celebration, rather just local catholic areas, holding their own calebrations, when in recent years nationalists congregated in the center of belfast to celebrate the day it was seen by top unionist almost as an act of war. There was alot of seething and unabashed anger and the b-specials were clawing their way out of graves and retirment homes and the ruc trigger fingers twitching like seldom before.

Not that im making a comparison between a st pats day parade and an Orange one. Perhaps next time youll pay more attention to the people taking part in the orange parades, it might help you to loose the rose tinted blindfold you wear. You’ll notice hardnd loyalist gangs, sectarian marching bands and drunken violent yobos screaming hate filled obsenities at the catholic residents who are forced to endure there parades past their doorsteps.

Dell worker

Personally the last St Patricks Day Parade I saw in the North of Ireland was in Belfast 2003. Now that is not saying there wasnt one this year (there was) but I didnt see it because I marched in the one in London.

I don’t think we should get too worked up about the Orange Order coming to Limerick. For the most part they are just conservative old men and not too dissimilar to the Free Masons who have a lodge across from King Johns Castle.

Have you heard of the Ancient Order of Hiberniansor the knights of St Columbans? or even the Rotary or Lions Clubs. All pretty similiar organisations. Fraternities of people for networking to keep the status quo ie that these people keep their positions in society.

Let them come to Limerick and then see who greets them. There are many people loyal to the status quo.
