Suspected human remains found in Clare lake

A fisherman on Lough Brigid near Bodyke in County Clare called the Gardai yesterday after he spotted something in the water.

The Garda Water Unit recovered what is believed to be the skeletal remains of a human. The badly decomposed remains have been taken to Limerick Regional Hospital for examination. It is thought that the corpse has been in the lake for some time.

Further searches of the Lough Brigid area will take place again tomorrow.

0515 hrs: The Irish Independent is reporting that Gardai are investigating the possibility that remains found in Lough Brigid are those of missing Limerick teenager Richard “Happy” Kelly.
