The blurb:
You’ve probably all gone to see electronic music acts that were billed as being ‘live’ only to be greeted by someone sitting in front of a laptop (usually looking really bored) clicking a mouse every now and again. Not really live is it ? Macc’s live show is different. This Drum & Bass producer and Jazz enthusiast from Barking, London writes atmospherics which are sequenced by computer while he plays along on a drum-kit – usually at a ferocious pace ! So when you see him sweating, that’s because playing the drums at 160 beats per minute is alot harder than clicking a mouse button every now and again !
As well as playing live Drum & Bass, Macc is known to indulge his love for funk by throwing in a few slower jams – reminiscent of the rhythms favoured by James Brown in his day but layered with a far moodier vibe than the recordings of “the Godfather of Soul”. Macc has also introduced a more obvious Jazz influence to his shows in recent times, playing renditions of his own jazz compositions as a breather (for the crowd aswell as himself!) before launching back into busier breakbeats.
