What a year it has been for Limerick Hurling, Niamh Mulcahy was recently awarded the Ireland Young Player of the Year in Camogie for 2007, all the more remarkable the achievement considering Limerick recently won the Gala All Ireland Final which is a B Grade in Camogie.Limerick will now be competing at the top level coming up against Cork, Wexford Tipperary etc.next year.
Niamh has now followed up with been awarded the West Limerick 102fm Sports Star of the Month award, sponsored by Fitzgerald Auctioneers, O Connell St.Limerick.
Niamh comes from a very sporting background, her father Ger Mulcahy played for Dromin-Athlacca, Ahane and Limerick for years. When I was speaking with him, he said he was very proud of his daughter’s achievements.
Seamus Hickey Murroe-Boher was awarded Ireland’s Young Player of the Year in the men’s awards recently, it certainly warrants good times ahead in Limerick Hurling.
