Four arrested after guns found in Moyross

Two teenagers, a man in his 20s and a man in his 40s have been arrested after the discovery of guns and amunition in a house in Moyross.

The raid took place this morning as part of an investigation into organised crime in Moyross.

UPDATE: Live 95fm reports that two rifles and two sawn off shotguns as well as a quantity of amunition have been recovered in the raid. h/t also to LivinDaGhetto for info

UPDATE: More info from RTE news. The age range of the people in custody is 18 to 41 years old. They are being held in various Garda stations around the city under Section 30 of the Offences against the state Act.

Two charged with murder of Darren Coughlan

Two men appeared before Limerick District Court yesterday, charged with the murder of Darren Coughlan, at the Old Cracloe Road in November of last year.

Richard Treacy, with an address at St. Munchin’s Street, St. Mary’s Park and Shane Kelly of Oliver Plunkett Street, St. Mary’s Park were arrested yesterday morning by Gardai on the direction of the DPP.

The court was told that neither gave a response when arrested.

Solicitors for both men, requested that they be remanded in custody at Limerick Prison for their own protection. Judge Tom O’Donnell agreed to this and remanded them in custody to appear again before the court next week.

Sheila Murray, the mother of Millie and Gavin Murray-McNamara has been speaking to Live 95FM this morning.

The two children were seriously injured when the car they were sitting in was set alight outside the house of their mother’s friend on September 10th.

Late Late show for Limerick

Plans are afoot to hold the Late Late Show in Limerick City during the comming season of the show.

The Limerick Leader revealed in it’s City Edition that no date or venue have been released yet, however it is more or less a certainty that the show will go ahead.

This will be the first time the show, which has run on RTE for almost half a century, will be broadcast from a location in Ireland other than Dublin.

The Late Late Show has breviously broadcast twice from New York.

NewsTalk goes nationwide

After much anticipation, NewsTalk is now receivable in Limerick. The former dublin local station began it’s first live nationwide broadcast with the Breakfast Show.

Three months for attack on fire engine

A man has received a three month prison sentence for an attack on a fire engine in June of this year.

Darragh Quinlivan, (23) from Crecora Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston, pleaded guilty to smashing the window of the fire engine on June 5th when it attended to a call in the area.

The court had previously heard from Inspector Seamus Gallagher, who told the court that the windscreen of the engine was smashed with a rock by the accused , who was standing amongst a crowd at 0330 hrs on that date. Over €400 worth of damage was caused to the fire engine.

Handing down the sentence, Judge Tom O’Donnell described it as “an appauling performance.”
