Catholics to get their own channel on Chorus

I have always been of the opinion that the selection of channels on Chorus have been inferior to cable providers in other parts of the country. The only time this was not the case was in the mid 1990s when Dublin’s Cablelink was unable to carry any satelite TV channels because it did not want to pay for them. Eventually it negotiated a deal which resulted in them being able to carry channels such as Sky One, Sky News and MTV etc.

MTV has only recently become availible in the City, and is only availible on Digital, where it has been availible in other parts of the country since the early 1990s.

Now the latest move by Chorus takes the cake. The Limerick Leader reports today that Chorus are to carry Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) as part of their package later this year.

This is not just any Christian channel, it is specifically Catholic TV.

Chorus’ resources could be used for more inclusive entertainment than this. One has to wonder which channel will be ditched to provide this muck, The leader does not say.
